Range Safety Officer (Full Time)
Position Summary
The Range Safety Officer (RSO) is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of the Neuse Sport Shop Indoor Shooting Range while delivering outstanding customer service. The RSO supervises all shooting activities, enforces range safety rules, provides orientation and assistance to customers, maintains range equipment and cleanliness, and supports retail sales and membership growth. Employment is contingent upon passing a criminal background check and drug screening.
Primary Responsibilities
· Continuously monitor all shooting lanes and enforce all range safety rules and SOPs.
· Conduct safety orientations for new shooters and members.
· Assist customers with lane assignments, target systems, and firearm safety.
· Respond appropriately to unsafe behavior and complete incident reports when necessary.
· Operate POS and range management software.
· Sell memberships, lane time, ammunition, accessories, and retail merchandise.
· Support classes, events, and competitions.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe range facility.
· Monitor target systems and report maintenance needs.
· Work collaboratively with all departments and complete additional duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
· Must be at least 21 years old.
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Strong knowledge of handgun, rifle, and shotgun operation and safety.
· Excellent customer service and communication skills.
· Basic computer proficiency.
· Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
· Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 70 pounds.
· Must wear required eye, hearing, and respiratory protection.
· Successfully complete required lead monitoring, hearing conservation testing, and respirator medical evaluation.
· Obtain and maintain NRA Certified Range Safety Officer certification (or approved equivalent) within the required training period.
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous firearms retail or indoor range experience.
· Military or law enforcement background.
· CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
